May 30, 2004 ASBIS Receives Title of ‘The Fastest Growing Samsung Semiconductor Distributor in EMEA Region’
ASBISc Enterprises Ltd., a leading supplier of computer components to the EMEA region’s emerging markets, has been awarded the title of ‘The Fastest Growing Distributor of Samsung Semiconductor’s TFT-LCD products’ in Europe, Middle East and Africa in the year 2003. The award has been officially handed over at Samsung’s annual dealers’ conference held in Prague.



May 17, 2004 Hitachi increases Microdrive production on demand for high-capacity digital music players
Driven by exponential increase in demand for its Microdrive storage media, Hitachi Global Storage Technologies is implementing an unprecedented growth strategy for the one-inch hard drive. In 2004, Hitachi GST plans a substantial manufacturing expansion for the 4 gigabyte (GB) Microdrive product at its Thailand facility. This development is being spurred by the proliferation of hard disk-based storage in consumer electronic devices, especially portable digital music players.


May 05, 2004 TOSHIBA SD-R5272 DVD±RW recorder
Toshiba is among the few companies that still produces DVD technology. The company has unveilled quality drives in the past, and currently, after quite some time of "inactivity", comes up with the new SD-R5272 dual format recorder. The drive is compatible with all current formats such as DVD-R/RW and +R/RW, CDs as well as DVD-RAM (read).


Seagate at WinHEC demonstrated in head-to-head tests using Intel's IOMeter benchmark that its Barracuda 7,200-rpm Serial ATA (SATA) hard drive with Native Command Queuing (NCQ) technology equals or exceeds the performance of the latest 10,000-rpm SATA hard drives on the market. Seagate also announced it is shipping its Barracuda 7200.7 SATA hard drives with NCQ technology to direct OEM customers next month.
