June 30, 2003 New Intel Server Processors Strengthen High-End Line-Up

Hitachi Global Storage Technologies announced a new ATA/Serial ATA desktop hard drive that extends the company’s long-standing tradition of performance leadership. The 3.5-inch Hitachi Deskstar 7K250 uses 80+ GB per platter technology to deliver up to one-quarter terabyte (250GB) of storage capacity.


ASBIS, one of the largest suppliers of computer components in the emerging markets of Europe, the Middle East and North Africa, and Toshiba Europe Storage Device Division, a leading manufacturer of optical disk drives and hard disk drives, today announced an agreement to distribute Toshiba’s entire portfolio of storage products across Eastern Europe.

June 16, 2003 Seagate Enters Notebook Hard Drive Market
Seagate has entered the notebook hard drive market with volume shipments of its new Momentus product. Momentus is the industry's first notebook hard drive to combine a high-performance 5,400-rpm spindle speed with the low battery-consumption of a traditional 4200-rpm notebook hard drive, so customers no longer have to choose between performance and mobility.

The Dual DVD Burner will be launched on the market in June. DVD burning on the PC will be even quicker and more flexible than ever. The new TEAC drive now enables 4x writing speed for DVD+-R, 2x for DVD-RW and 2.4x with DVD+RW. The high-speed burner records CD-Rs with 16x speed and CD-RWs with an incredible 10x speed.


Reflecting the growing momentum within the telecommunications industry for standards-based modular communications building blocks, Intel announced it is working with Alcatel, HP and others in the industry to deliver modular communications solutions. QLogic Corp. announced that several companies - including Agilent Technologies Inc., FalconStor Software, Fujitsu, JNI and Seagate - have joined QLogic in its commitment to develop 10Gb and 4Gb products for SAN customers, following the Fibre Channel Industry Association's (FCIA) vote to extend 4Gb Fibre Channel from an "inside the box" storage device interconnect into switched SAN fabrics.
