Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. announced the development of the world’s fastest DDR3 SRAM. Generating 1.5 Gb per second, the 72Mb Double Data Rate 3 (DDR3) SRAM will support the high-density, high-speed memory requirements for next generation servers and workstations.

LSI Logic announced it has initiated co-development product planning with leading hard disk drive manufacturers Fujitsu, Maxtor, and Seagate. LSI Logic will use its Fusion-MPT (Message Passing Technology) architecture as the basis for the evolution of Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) silicon. The architecture simplifies product design, being modular building block based, and therefore provides a proven pathway for product development to assure a first-to-market solution for LSI Logic and its hard disk drive partners.
