To address this issue, Intel Corporation is introducing a suite of five optical components that speed the development of cost-effective 10-Gigabit per second (Gbps) Ethernet and 10Gbps FibreChannel optical transceivers.

QLogic Corp. unveiled a full line of iSCSI products that answer the call from major OEMs for standards-based iSCSI components to power server, networking and storage systems. The foundation of the new product line consists of three single-chip ISP offload engines for TCP, iSCSI and IP security (IPSec), the industry's first state-based offload engines scalable to 10Gb.



Vixel Corporation announced that it has been awarded U.S. Patent No. 6,470,007, entitled "Interconnect System for Fiber Channel Arbitrated Loop Including Private Loop Devices." The new patent protects the exclusivity of several core elements of Vixel's switching technology and offers its current InSpeed customers a natural evolution to even more scalable and reliable switched storage architectures.


November 18, 2002 IBM unveils world’s fastest desktop hard disk drive with new Serial ATA technology
IBM reaffirms its commitment to the Serial ATA storage interface by showcasing prototype drives, using the new interface, at Comdex Fall 2002. The Serial ATA Work Group, Nexsan Technologies and Promise Technology will feature IBM’s Serial ATA-enhanced desktop hard disk drives (HDD) at the Las Vegas Convention Center. IBM is expected to formally introduce Serial ATA into its 3.5-inch HDD products in 2003.
